My life as an artist began in London about 9 years ago. I finished my BA Fine Art in 2010. During my studies, my work has involved the creation of conceptually based sociopolitical subjects. After a cyst operation just before my final year, I started to use body as a theatrical stage. Photography was an easy medium at that time, so I began using camera.
My work mainly addresses gender roles/gender assignment, the fragility of relationship dynamics, domestic violence and the underlying threads of violence, discipline and danger that underpin most societies. 'Within the contemporary socio-political contexts, the body continues to be the physical place of violence, both symbolic and very real, and continuous to appear as an unstable figure' . These themes are often combined with the metaphors has now become a very prominent feature in my work.
I usually work on several bodies of work concurrently. Using props and make-up, creating stage on body to explore endless possibilities. I use the body as a visceral theatre, playing out impossible realities using the camera as an artificial eye. The work itself is a hybrid. The images attempt to reside in between binaries where the viewer is seduced and resisted, both titillated and horrified, both believing and disbelieving the images.
Currently, I am working on a project called 'TransBlenders' . At this stage there is not much to say, but will take some form soon.
My interest in physical, psychological, personal and cultural limits generally define my artworks.
